What will my new teeth look like?
They should. Dr. Otteson starts with what you want to see in the mirror: the shape, length and shade of your teeth, and how much of them shows when you smile. Your new arch is planned around your face and your bite, so it looks at home and works the way you need it to.
- Planned for your face: Tooth shape, length and shade are chosen with you.
- Fixed, not floating: The bridge is fastened to implants, so it stays put when you bite down.
- Strong final teeth: Final bridges are usually made of zirconia, a dense, tooth-colored ceramic.

How do All-on-4 and All-on-X implants work?
A few dental implants are placed in your jaw to act as anchors, and a complete arch of teeth, upper or lower, is fastened onto them. You don’t take it out at night; your dentist removes it only for professional cleanings and check-ups.
Can tilted implants mean skipping a bone graft?
Often, yes. The two back implants are set at a slant, leaning toward the front of the jaw, where bone tends to be thicker. Tilting them gives each implant more bone to grip and lets the arch rest on as few as four, even after years of bone loss. When grafting is still needed, Bellisima Dental offers it. Whether you hear it called All-on-4, All-on-X or teeth in a day, it’s the same fixed, full-arch approach.

From implants to finished smile, step by step
- Implants go in: Four or more implants are placed in the jawbone to serve as new roots. The back pair is usually angled to use the strongest bone.
- Connectors added: Short connectors called multi-unit abutments are fitted to the implants, so one bridge can attach to implants set at different angles.
- Arch fastened: Last, the full-arch bridge is screwed down onto the connectors, where it stays.
Is a full arch of implants right for me?
It’s usually considered when most of the teeth in your upper or lower jaw are missing, loose or beyond repair. It can replace one arch or both. Does one of these sound like you?
Your denture moves when you eat or talk
Picture ordering what you really want at dinner again.
Your teeth are loose, broken or keep needing repairs
Teeth that can’t be saved are often removed the same day the implants go in.
Most of your teeth are already gone
One plan replaces the whole arch instead of one tooth at a time.
You were told there isn’t enough bone
Angled implants often work around bone loss, and bone grafting is available here when it’s needed.
At your visit, Dr. Otteson looks at your mouth and your goals and tells you honestly what fits.
How do fixed implant teeth compare with dentures?
Replacing a whole arch comes down to one question: teeth that stay in, or teeth that come out. Here’s how the three choices stack up after healing.
| All-on-X fixed bridge (Fastened to implants) | Snap-on implant denture (Clips onto implants) | Traditional denture (Sits on your gums) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Comes out? | No, only your dentist removes it | Yes, daily for cleaning | Yes, every day |
| Stability | Fixed in place | Steadier than a regular denture | May shift when you chew or talk |
| Food after healing | Most of your favorite foods | A wider menu than a regular denture | Softer foods are easier |
| Daily care | Brush, then a water flosser under the bridge | Take it out; clean it and the implants | Take it out, brush and soak |

How long does full-arch implant treatment take?
Surgery is a single day, and many patients head home with fixed temporary teeth the same day. After a few months of healing, your final bridge, usually zirconia, replaces them.
Free consultation and your plan
First visit. Dr. Otteson examines your mouth, reviews X-rays and jaw imaging, and talks through your options and the look you want. If you go ahead, he maps out where each implant goes and how your new teeth will meet. If you need a bone graft first, the timeline is longer.
Teeth in a day
Surgery day. On surgery day, many patients get fixed temporary teeth before they head home. In one visit, teeth that can’t be saved are removed, the implants and connectors are placed, and a temporary bridge is fastened on while you heal.
Your final smile
A few months later. Once the implants have bonded with your jawbone, the temporary bridge is replaced with your final one, usually made of zirconia and fitted to your gums and bite.
How will treatment and healing feel?
Does All-on-X surgery hurt?
The area is numbed, so you shouldn’t feel the surgery itself, and IV sedation or nitrous oxide is available if you’d like to be more relaxed. Expect some soreness and swelling for several days; we send you home with instructions and medication to manage it.
How do I look after my new teeth?
- The first few weeks: Stick to soft foods while the implants heal; we’ll tell you when to add more. Your speech may sound a little different for a few days.
- Everyday cleaning: Brush twice a day and use a water flosser or floss threader under the bridge. We’ll show you how at your follow-up visit.
- Regular visits: Professional cleanings and exams protect your implants and gums. From time to time, the bridge comes off for a deeper clean.

All-on-X questions, answered
Is All-on-X the same as All-on-4?
They’re the same idea. All-on-4 uses four implants to hold a fixed arch of teeth; All-on-X is the broader name when a plan uses four or more. Dr. Otteson chooses the number that suits your jaw at your consultation.
Can I treat just the upper or just the lower arch?
Yes. Treatment can replace your upper teeth, your lower teeth or both arches.
Will I really leave with teeth the same day?
For many patients, yes: a fixed temporary bridge goes in on surgery day, so you walk out with teeth. After a few months of healing, the final bridge takes its place.
I’ve worn dentures for years. Can I switch to fixed teeth?
Often, yes. Plenty of people move from a denture to fixed implant teeth. A scan of your jaw tells Dr. Otteson how much bone there is to work with, and Bellisima Dental offers bone grafting when you need more.
Is financing available for All-on-X?
Yes. Bellisima Dental offers financing options through four companies (Cherry, Sunbit, CareCredit and Alphaeon), and our front desk can help you compare them.
Is the implant consultation free?
Yes, it’s free. Call the office and we’ll book it for you.
Can I be sedated for the surgery?
Yes. IV sedation and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) are both offered, along with local numbing. Dr. Otteson will help you decide which suits you.
Can I still get implants if I smoke, have diabetes or have lost bone?
Smoking and health conditions such as diabetes can affect healing, so Dr. Otteson reviews your health history and imaging before recommending a plan. Bone loss doesn’t automatically rule you out; angled implants and bone grafting are both options.
What are the final teeth made of?
Final full-arch bridges are usually made of zirconia, a strong, tooth-colored ceramic that’s shaped and shaded for your smile.
Will my new teeth hold up over time?
With daily care and regular check-ups, implants can serve you for many years. The bridge can wear or chip over time and may need repair or replacement down the road.
Is there an age limit for All-on-X?
Not a fixed one. What matters is your overall health, how your body heals and the bone in your jaw.
Can my visits be in Spanish?
Yes. Our entire staff speaks English and Spanish, so your consultation and every visit after it can be in Spanish.
